Q1. What is ULEFUSA?
ULEFUSA is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation established by UET Lahore alumni in North America. Our mission is to connect and support the University of Engineering & Technology Lahore by funding initiatives that promote educational excellence and address today’s technological challenges.
Q2. What are ULEFUSA’s focus areas (verticals)?
We concentrate our efforts on five key areas, each led by a distinguished UET alumnus in the US: 1. Educational Excellence 2. Mentorship 3. Industry Engagement 4. Internships 5.Entrepreneurship
Q3. Who governs ULEFUSA?
Board of Directors: Elected UET alumni serve three-year terms; we began with a five-member founding board and will expand to 11 members by 2025. Each year thereafter, three directors rotate off and three new ones are elected. Advisory Board: Independent experts in education and technology offer guidance. Area Ambassadors: Representatives in major US cities promote our mission.
Q4. How does UET Lahore administration participate?
We collaborate under a formal MOU. UET Lahore may propose projects, which our advisory board reviews independently. Final approval and funding decisions rest with ULEFUSA’s Board of Directors. We do not fund capital infrastructure or regular operational budgets.
Q5. How are decisions made and funds disbursed?
All budgets and expenditures require a two-thirds majority vote of the Board of Directors. At least two board members (including the Chair) must sign all disbursement requests. Annual disbursements are limited to the estimated return on endowment investments from the preceding three years.
Q6. How can I become a member of ULEFUSA?
Any UETian living in the US who makes a donation becomes a voting member. To join, donate online at www.ulefusa.org/contribute-now; you will receive a donation receipt and membership confirmation.
Q7. What donation methods and types are available?
Online Gifts: Secure donations in USD via our website. Bequests: Gift movable or immovable assets; our pro bono legal panel assists you at no cost. Restricted Funds: Endowed for long‑term growth; only investment income is spent. Donor-Advised Funds: Donors specify the project, discipline, or demographic; includes Zakat‑eligible contributions. Unrestricted Funds: Board‑discretion funds for urgent needs not covered by other categories.
Q8. Can I designate my donation?
Yes. Through donor-advised funds, you may direct support to a specific discipline, project, or student demographic.
Q9. Does ULEFUSA accept Zakat?
Absolutely. We maintain Sharia‑compliant investments, and Zakat funds are used strictly according to donor instructions.
Q10. How are funds requested and managed by UET Lahore?
UET Lahore submits proposals to our Board. After independent review and approval, funds are disbursed for the approved project. Capital projects and routine budget support are not eligible.
Q11. How are endowed funds invested?
Our endowment is managed through Fidelity Investments. Withdrawals require a board resolution and are limited to supporting our five focus areas and financial aid for deserving students

Q13. Is there an external audit?
