He shared ULEFUSA’s vision and commitment to empowering UET students through meaningful initiatives. Texas Events 2025
We began the year with alumni events in Dallas, Austin, and Houston. Esteemed UET Lahore alumni based in these cities were invited to a joyful get-together. The gatherings included a briefing on ULEFUSA’s mission, ongoing initiatives, and future plans, followed by a fundraising session and a dinner.
ULEFUSA GenAI Training & Hackathon 2025
ULEFUSA, in collaboration with PAKANGELS, ICODE GURU, and ASPIRE, successfully launched its inaugural Generative AI Training Bootcamp and Hackathon. The event was widely promoted across the UET Lahore campus and was open to all enrolled students. Over the course of two intensive months, participants were trained in the fundamentals of Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. The program also introduced modern GenAI tools and demonstrated how students can leverage these technologies to accelerate their academic development and career growth. The bootcamp received an overwhelming response, with more than 2,000 students enrolling. It concluded with a highly engaging Hackathon, and successful participants were awarded certificates of completion. In light of this tremendous turnout and enthusiastic participation, ULEFUSA is pleased to announce the launch of a second cohort, scheduled to begin in June 2025.
Event in Silicon Valley
January 2024
At the ULEF kick-off event held on January 27, 2024, in Silicon Valley, California, United States, Waqas Khan, the Chairman of the ULEF USA Board and an alumnus from the class of '80 in Electrical Engineering, outlined the vision of ULEF. He also discussed the progress that has been made in establishing it as a US non-profit organization and setting up a financial framework for accepting donations.

ULEF USA is dedicated to uplifting our Alma Mater, UET Lahore, through various initiatives. Mr. Waqas Khan, our Founding Chairman, is excited to introduce the ULEF scholarship program. This initiative, fully funded and administered by ULEF USA, aims to provide scholarships for each department at UET, empowering students to achieve their academic goals and contribute to the university's legacy of excellence.
Soft Skills Training
Summer 2024
Developing an internship ecosystem for students at UET Lahore is a top priority for ULEFUSA. As a pilot initiative, ULEFUSA, in collaboration with Berlitz, launched its inaugural program this summer. The first cohort consisted of 10 students from various UET Departments. Over a rigorous one-month training and development period, the students acquired a broad range of professional and technical skills essential for today's job market. As the program concludes, participants are enthusiastic about the skills they have gained. Some have already begun applying for full-time/part time positions, reflecting their positive experience and the program’s impact.
